how to apply make-up like a pro

Patting is a key to success

The key of a perfect make-up application lies in the simplest thing ever-patting. No matter which step we are speaking about, patting every product into your skin instead of rubbing it is rule No. 1.

Hydrate first

Now, when you know what to do, we can hydrate your skin. Take a bit of face cream on one of your fingertips with a wooden stick and apply it on all your fingertips. Then, pat into your skin and neck like the rain would fall on your face. Wait 10 min. If you still see cream on your face, touch it softly with a tissue to get rid or residue. Your makeup will glide on easily now. Use synthetic brushes if you, like me, love brushes over fingers.

Foundation

Apply a natural looking foundation with your method of choice: sponge, brush or fingers. All ways are ok, it`s just the matter of preference. I found the application with a brush more appealing to me. Start with the middle of your forehead, nose and chin, when go to the rest of the face not forgetting your hear line. Go down the jawline (1/3 of your neck down). Use synthetic brushes.

Concealer

Use concealer only where necessary, like under the eyes and over blemishes. Choose a shade lighter than your natural coloring is. Cover the under-eye zone before the foundation and blemishes after it. Apply using your ring finger since it has the lightest touch and pat. Use synthetic bristles brushes.

Bronzer and Highlighter

Use blush instead of bronzer in winter time. Apply a small amount of bronzer where the sun would normally hit the face: forehead, cheeks, chin, making the face look oval. When choosing a bronzer, skip shimmer and orange tones, e.g. Egipto žemė (Egyptian Earth Bronzer) and look for a natural, not-too-dark option that complements your skin tone. Bronzer is the best best to use with a few swipes of highlighter on top of your cheekbones. Use natural bristles brushes.

Blush like in a rush

Blush should replicate your natural blush, so avoid too dark and too red tones. For a healthy, rosy look, dust blush on the apples of your cheek in a circular and upward motion. Use natural bristles or choose creamy blushes to use with your fingers, but their color is more difficult to control.

Eyeshadow

There are 2 important rules here: eyeshadow base and a light base color are "2 musts". Eyeshadow base keeps your eyeshadow color intense and long-lasting. Always apply an ivory or other natural looking light color as a neutral base shade over the lid. Then add a darker color in the crease. After every application well with an always clean brush (use a tissue to wipe the color off). You can add a bit of highlighter on the inner corners of the eyes or use a light sparkling powder, such as MUFE Star Powder. Two colors are minimal for eye make-up. The best option is to have 3 complementing colors.

Lipstick and lipgloss

If you want to have a long lasting lip color, always apply a lip liner matching your natural lip color before or after the application of your lipstick. Use dark colors, if you have beautiful full lips. If your lips are thin, use light color in the middle of your lips and a darker shade in the corners, add a nice lip gloss. Powder to keep it stable. Make red color your sign, or choose for a special occasion.

Eyeliner and Mascara

The eyeliner has to be darker than your eyes color. Applying at least two coats of mascara, leave the lower lashes untouched if you like a natural look. Curl your lashes with a curler to have volume and fullness. Don`t experiment with mascara if you have found the one that you like.
